Trump promises staggering tariffs for BRICS countries if they abandon U.S. currency

President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday threatened to enact “100% tariffs” on BRICS countries that are trying to move away from using the U.S. dollar as their currency.

“The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar while we stand by and watch is OVER. We require a commitment from these Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful U.S. Economy,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social.

I prefer the carrot approach, but I'm glad that Trump is addressing things that need to be addressing. The USA has been so, so weak over the last four years that most of the world is walking all over us. Any country that can't sell into the US economy is going to fall into recession at the very least, especially China. Of course the problem is probably 80% of what the USA needs is made in China, and it will take time to move manufacturing somewhere else.

None-the-less, we need a strong leader willing to take strong actions. It's going to be tumultuous, that's for sure.

Since the antichrist will rise up in the West, I suspect most power and influence will stay with the west. Of course I don't know, it's just a hunch.

I am listening to RC Murrow who is in an interview with Jimmy DeYoung Jr.

He agrees that 100% sanctions are a bad idea. A billionaire he quotes said that BRICS should accept the challenge saying it would undermine the US dollar with reduced trade and increase inflation in the west.

Murrow goes on to conclude that he thinks the 100% tariffs is merely one of Trump’s art of the deal tools.
