President Donald Trump praised DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for moving to paint the entire southern border wall black, saying it will make it “untouchable."

President Donald Trump praised DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for moving to paint the entire southern border wall black, saying it will increase the wall’s effectiveness, making it "untouchable" for would-be illegal immigrants.

Speaking to the press in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump said, "I didn't know she was listening" when he suggested the wall should be black.

"So, I turn on last night and I see Kristi is painting the wall and it looked beautiful, by the way, when that paint went on, it's beautiful," he said, adding, "It's hot, if it's white, it’s not hot. If it's black, it's going to be very hard to climb that sucker."

The illegals they want to keep out will be coming over from the Mexican side.
And, they are making it harder for the illegals already here to get back into Mexico.

The entire wall is getting black paint, both sides. It'll help protect the wall from the elements and make it more difficult to climb over it.

I thought they were all for self deportation, and surely it would be easy to go back across to Mexico if they are Mexican citizens. I can't see why they'd be climbing over walls to get out when they can simply walk across the border as legal Mexican citizens.

Self-deporters are offered free transportation back to their home countries and some cash to boot. For those being deported who are not self-deporters, they won't be going over the wall either, they'll be chained up for security purposes while they're taken to whatever country they end up in.

During a recent press conference at the wall in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, Noem told reporters, “Remember that a nation without borders is no nation at all.”

She explained that the wall’s height makes it extremely difficult to climb, adding the structure extends into the ground to prevent digging underneath.

Noem said painting the wall black was a specific request from President Trump, as the paint would heat up in the sun and make it even harder to climb:

Something to remember about walls. Like speedbumps they are in place to enforce a law that benefits everyone. WALLS SAVE LIVES!

They don't discriminate, they just stop people from breaking in, forcing them to go thru the doors, get vetted like they should be and making it safer for everyone on BOTH sides of the border.

When the walls are missing, people die crossing the border going north. Heat, drowning, being forced thru deserts by smugglers. Not good for people trying to cross into the US.

Then there are the terrorists and operatives from places like Iran, Russia, China etc that have no business being let in. Under previous administrations far too many came in, and live here ready to be activated as sleeper cells with suitcase nukes and bioweapons.

Walls protect US citizens, but walls ALSO PROTECT the MIGRANTS looking for an easy way in and drowning, dying in heat or from thirst.

Walls are a compassionate response to a very serious threat to both those groups.

Walls don't require a salary and benefits, and they stretch the human resources who need to enforce the border. Lower tax dollars, less staff required, and bonus is that walls prevent problems.

Walls mean that people don't have to be put in detainment centres or get mistreated by accident. It stops people trying to send their children over or taking toddlers over the border. It stops the costs of deporting people and the inevitable mistakes that get made.

If you have compassion for other human beings from whatever country, you must remember that Walls LITERALLY STOP PEOPLE FROM BEING HARMED! on both sides.

There is zero downside to walls.

Yes, @Margery, walls definitely protect Americans. When legal immigrants such as myself enter America, you can be sure that we are healthy, bringing no diseases, and have no criminal background in our home country (or anywhere else.) And you can be assured we are here to pursue the American dream, not take advantage of this nation. Most of us are true patriot Americans at heart. I can tell you that when I finished reciting my citizenship oath and the judge pronounced that we were now American citizens, I began to cry. The emotion of being accepted as part of this great nation was overwhelming. I had not expected that; but it happened. And Andrea seeing what happened immediately rushed over and hugged me, giving me a chance to compose myself. Public crying is not a manly thing to do --at least not for me-- unless I am praying for someone in need ... or worshipping God.
