Trump nominates Pete Hegseth to serve as defense secretary

Andy C

Well-known
IMO, Very unlikely selection, but perhaps young blood is what the pentagon needs now. It will be a battle to get him confirmed in the Senate.

From the article:

Pete Hegseth has been selected by President-elect Trump to serve as his secretary of defense.

"I am honored to announce that I have nominated Pete Hegseth to serve in my Cabinet as The Secretary of Defense. Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops, and for the Country. Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First," Trump said in a statement.

Hegseth's last day at Fox, where he co-hosted Sunday’s "FOX & Friends Weekend," was Tuesday. Hegseth started with FOX News as a contributor in 2014 and was named the co-host of "FOX & Friends Weekend" in 2017. He began co-hosting the show on a regular basis in late 2016 and was officially named to the role in January 2017.

Im still shaking my head at this pick. Maybe he will be the right person for the job, but his lack of experience and now its possible he would lead a dept with an 840 billion budget, and second in command of the armed forces to the President. Tough task, but something in this man made Trump feel he is right for the job.

It will be a tough sell getting confirmed.

You just need the skills of leadership and the ability to make hard decisions. A decent IQ helps a lot. A lot of corporate types and investors scoffed when IBM, appearing to be on its last legs, hired Louis Gerstner as their new CEO to hopefully save the company. Gerstner didn't have any experience in the industry that IBM was in, and people just thought he was the wrong pick. He not only got IBM back on its feet, but helped it become prosperous, and in record time.

The right person for the job isn't alway the one that has the credentials that the world would expect him/her to have.

This guy was picked because he is a warrior and he has a mission to rid the pentagon of the woke mindset that the democrats have pushed into our military.

Men pretending to be women have no place in leading our military. That and the critical race theory that has been pushed too is getting scrubbed. The CRT is nothing but racism pure and simple. It blatantly lays the blame for everything that is wrong on white people. Again racism has no place in our military, from any race.

My best friends son, made Sargent on his first enlistment. He was stationed in Hawaii most of his enlistment. He’s getting out because of the woke BS. He had originally planned on making the Army a career. His dad is retired Navy. His oldest brother is a Nuclear Engineer in the Navy.

I asked him why he’s getting out? His response I can’t deal with men pretending to be women and playing the game to get out of deployments. They had several in their barracks. He got wrote up for calling one of them a f-ggot. Its okay for them to call him a redneck hillbilly.

His unit was deployed to Asia and then Poland. The girly men were not deployed, they were having mental issues, like claiming they were pregnant and etc…

You’ve been retired and away from this nonsense. It was being pushed on us at DOJ, thus one of the reasons I retired early.

Personally I don’t know how the older generals accepted this crap in the pentagon to begin with. Many of the best and brightest left, they retired.

We need to return the Pentagon to an agency that can lead American troops into battle to win.

I never thought I’d see the retreat from Saigon topped, until the diBen / Harris regime made the USA the laughing stock of the world with the Afghanistan withdrawal. Anyone should be able to see leaving billions of dollars of high tech military gear behind for the Taliban and getting 13 of our service members killed in the process was a terrible mistake.

Then the Clown in Chief is going to keep looking at his watch while their caskets are being unloaded?

This is what I know about Pete Hegseth-- he is a major in the Minnesota National Guard. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Army Commendation Medals while serving in combat zones in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Among his other decorations he has Army Expert Infantryman and Combat Infantryman badges. He has an undergraduate degree from Yale and a graduate degree in Public Policy from Harvard's John F Kennedy School of Government. He is a New York Times best-selling author with 4 non-fiction books to his name, including The War On Warriors: Behind The Betrayal Of The Men Who Keep Us Free. He has a reputation as a fighter and an intelligent and cool-headed leader.
President Trump has a lot of faith in him.

If confirmed, he will definitely remove DEI, and wokeness at the senior level.

This will be a challenge, but sometimes, new blood is needed, and one who will have the complete backing from President Trump.

There are definitely some Generals and admirals who must know, earlier than planned retirement is fast approaching.

Trump’s nominee for Pentagon chief suggested new temple could be built on Temple Mount
President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of defense Pete Hegseth suggested that a temple could be re-established on the Temple Mount in a resurfaced speech he gave in 2018 at the Arutz Sheva conference in Jerusalem.

“There’s no reason why the miracle of the re-establishment of the temple on the Temple Mount is not possible,” Hegseth said.

“I don’t know how it would happen. You don’t know how it would happen, but I know that it could happen,” he added.

Hegseth also appeared to endorse annexing Israeli settlements, an effort backers of the effort often describe as “applying Israeli sovereignty to Judea and Samaria,” using the biblical names for the West Bank.
