Trump demands plans for large-scale layoffs of more federal employees

TCC

Well-known

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration on Wednesday ordered all federal departments and agencies to submit reorganization plans outlining how they would implement large-scale layoffs before March 13.

Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought and Office of Personnel Management Acting Director Charles Ezell wrote in a seven-page memo the reason for the expected layoffs is that the “federal government is costly, inefficient, and deeply in debt.”

“At the same time, it is not producing results for the American public,” they wrote. “Instead, tax dollars are being siphoned off to fund unproductive and unnecessary programs that benefit radical interest groups while hurting hard-working American citizens.”

The reorganization plans should include “significant reduction in the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) positions by eliminating positions that are not required, a reduced real property footprint” and lower spending levels for each department or agency.

my wonderful aunt who has been depending on her Military-Base income for years is terrified she will be laid off in this. i am sorry that i agree she is way overpaid for what she does, and im sorry that in impersonal circumstances i wouldnt someone to be in her kush position; it seems unfair to others that she is so well cared-for, for what she does day in in day out; most people who proofread dont make a fraction of what she does. but since i KNOW her and am aware of what she has endured for almost the past decade- losing much of her future security due to a divorce with her long-time husband who did a horrible thing- it makes me not care somewhat, that she has been earning this. i want her to be okay. so i was okay with her having this easy, kush, six-figure position. i want us all to be taken care of. but its true- its not worth the money she gets. they recently required her to be back in the office instead of work-from-home like she has since 2020. that was the first sign- going back to physical office to appear relevant. shes in constant fear of what she will do if she loses this job that has been so promising until now. so, thats my take on this- totally 50/50!

We can pray for her- if you'd like to launch a prayer thread for her, it will give her some prayer support and God will move in her life. I am so sorry for her. That is a very difficult circumstances. Whether she's a Christian or not, job loss is terrifying, more so as you get older.

The older people have a harder time finding another job. Regardless of the overall situation. What is right for the country and the tax payer presents a hardship for her.

I understand the importance in weeding out the bad actors and probing into where tax payer money has been spent and cut unnecessary funding and such. That's great and should be done.

My question about the lay offs and firing of government employees is whether they plan on hiring new government employees to replace the ones being removed?

I'm getting the feeling that there won't be anymore new hiring, and likely AI will be doing the jobs in government.
The idea that AI is efficient, and then that AI doesn't have to be paid, would "save" on government spending.
It just looks like it's going towards everything being run through AI.
If that's what is happening, it's not surprising because of what the Bible says about the coming Beast system and the ability it will have to track, surveil, monitor and control society.

I'm not saying this current administration is knowingly contributing to it but surely everything has to happen to bring about what the Bible tells us it will be like during the coming Tribulation, and I do believe it's coming in the near future, after the Church is removed and are with The Lord Jesus.

There's a Federal fish hatchery in the area that lost all but one employee because the rest were in their probationary period. The hatchery can't be operated by just one person.

Chaos like this is occurring at the micro level. A lot of Federal employees are protected to some extent from firing. I suppose Trump can transfer remaining employees to wherever they're needed and if those transferred don't like it, they can quit. I wonder if Trump can adjust the GS level of remaining employees.

valuable insight here. i agree its a matter of when, not if, and this is a contender!

I don't get the sense its for AI replacing. Although there is an increase in interest of AI to develop more and be used more, I don't think this sweep is about that though. I believe it is more that America over the years has become a nation where crime syndicates have thrived on cyphening money from her. Bloating government workers to feed off the system. Like, uncle Harry and his 10 kids need a job, so we will create jobs out of thin air to issue paychecks (whether that job exists or not). I believe there is a lot of this sort of thing. And not just that but many other avenues people in other countries cyphen off money from America. So we seem to be a huge cash cow for criminal syndicates. And instead of allowing Mafia tactics to create fake jobs out of thin air, reducing government size seems to be much about ending an ilicite empire. With that will come cuts too I imagine from departments that bloat out as well.

Although of course over time AI will likely play a part in the tribulation period, the focus of downsizing government seems to be somewhat heading in the other direction. Removing positions from potentially bankrupting America. Because, I believe beyond the criminal eliment, the general UN and globalist direction was/is to reduce American sovereignty in the world so as to eventually defang whatever protective overflow the constitution can have on effects in the world. Eliminate America, and world dominance is much easier. Draining her financially would be part of that plan which I believe DOGE would be to stop that general overall financial hemorrhaging. Blessings.

I agree, our govt. bloat is basically a high end social welfare system similar to Europe’s. It erodes the older US merit based, old Yankee Know How.

That would have been much better than leaving the hatchery with one worker.

I used to work with lots of feds, their salaries and benefits are breaking the bank.

In some parts of the country, many Federal employees remain at a pretty low GS level so their pay isn't high. I noticed when I was in the D.C. area for a few years and worked at one of the agencies, that most of the civilians, even relatively young ones, were at a pretty high GS level, raking in the big bucks.

Majority of the GS workforce in the VA system are at the lower end in wages. At most VA facilities, all the staff who handle checking in at the department desk, and schedule appts are GS5-7.

Go to D.C. and the typical Fed employee is GS-12,13,14.
Yes, but no thanks.

I did spend 4 years immediately after retiring working in a Marine school where I taught soon to be instructors how to teach, and write curriculum. I was a GS11. I had opportunities to take advantage of my former Marine rank to make more money as a contractor, or as a higher ranked GS doing something I would not of liked.

I looked it up one day to find out what school teachers in NC made for their salary. To make what I was making as a GS, a civilian in the private sector schools would need a masters degree, and 15 years of teaching experience. So yes, IMO, we were overpaid for what we did.

NC teachers get really low pay from what I know of it. My sister, after she sold her pig farm went in to teaching for something to do... certainly not for the money... In Fairbanks AK the pay for teachers was 6 figures when I lived there... even so they complained about low pay.
