Was half listening to TV program tonight, NASA's Unexplained Files.
One of the stories was about an unexplained object on Mars. One of the explanations for the object was that the object could have been remains, start, or part of a space elevator, which would allow individuals and cargo to be conveyed up to space, eliminating the need to launch heavy rockets to go or provision places in space, and permit the population to truly become interplanetary/interstellar, and do anything.
This got me thinking about the Tower of Babel. Wonder if the Tower of Babel was actually a space elevator? At the time of the tower, the long-lived people would have had a lot of the technical and scientific knowledge of the antedeluvians, passed down by Noah's family, who were the only survivors of the flood. Wonder if the antedeluvians had or were developing/building space elevator(s)?

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

To carry this farther, the end times will be as the times of Noah. Even now, there are multiple countries and companies working on developing a space elevator(s).
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
