Top Hezbollah terrorist Ibrahim Aqil eliminated in Beirut strike

Tall Timbers

Imperfect but forgiven
Staff member
"Ibrahim Aqil, the Head of Hezbollah's Operation Unit and the Commander of Hezbollah's elite Radian Forces, was eliminated in a targeted intelligence-based strike in Beirut earlier today," the Israeli Defense Forces confirmed on X Friday.

"During the strike, senior operatives in Hezbollah's Operations Staff and commanders from the Radwan Unit were eliminated alongside Aqil. Ibrahim Aqil and the Radwan commanders who were eliminated today were planning Hezbollah’s “Conquer the Galilee” attack plan, in which Hezbollah intended to infiltrate Israeli communities and kidnap and murder innocent civilians in a similar manner to the October 7 Massacre," the IDF statement continues. "The IDF will continue to remove the threat of Hezbollah's capabilities and will continue to operate in all arenas to protect Israeli civilians."

Israeli Officials believe that at least 30 Members of Hezbollah, including roughly 20 Senior Commanders, were Eliminated in today’s Strike on the Suburbs of Beirut.

Strike targeting building in Hezbollah stronghold eliminates many senior Hezbollah figures, IDF spokesperson says

The Shiite jihadists of Hezbollah fired over 150 rockets on northern Israel from their homebase of Lebanon, causing property damage to several communities and sparking brushfires; there were no casualties reported in the barrage.

The Israeli military retaliated by hitting the terrorists' infrastructure and rocket launchers.

Israel's attack in Beirut on Friday afternoon allegedly targeted the head of Hezbollah's Operations Division, Ibrahim Aliq, Israeli media confirmed on Friday morning.

So, who is this leader in the terrorist organization, and why did Israel allegedly want to take him down?

Ibrahim Aqil, also known as Tahsin, "serves on Hezbollah’s highest military body, the Jihad Council," according to the Rewards for Justice Program, the United States Department of State's national security interagency program that offers reward for information leading to the location or an arrest of leaders of terrorist groups.

During the 1980s, Aqil, according to the program, "was a principal member of Islamic Jihad Organization—[Hezbollah's] terrorist cell—that claimed the bombings of the US Embassy in Beirut in April 1983, which killed 63 people."

Designation as a global terrorist

The US State Department designated Aqil as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in 2019 as a result of his involvement in multiple terrorist plots, including the kidnapping of national officials in the 1980s.

Therefore, the Department of State has placed a reward of up to $7 million on his head.

"Plan to Conquer the Galilee"

In a Friday statement confirming Aqil's death, IDF spokesman R.-Adm. Daniel Hagari noted that he was the leader and architect of Hezbollah's "Plan to Conquer the Galilee."

The Radwan Force commanders killed alongside Aqil in the strike were likewise involved in the plan, the Hagari added.

"Hezbollah intended, on the day of command, to invade Israeli territory, seize Galilee communities, and murder innocent civilians, similar to what Hamas did during the brutal massacre on October 7," the IDF spokesperson said of the Hezbollah plan.

According to Hagari, Aqil, since 2004, has served as head of Hezbollah's Operations Division. In this role, he reportedly oversaw a variety of terror activities, including bombings and anti-tank missile fire on Israeli territory. He also allegedly oversaw activities related to explosive devices and air defense, among others.

Again, Israel gave grace to the Lebanese citizens by dropping leaflets forewarning them that they would bomb the city.

Hezbollah can't use more propagnda about the IDF because they were given more than their fair share of warning
Hasn't helped our CBC in Canada from doing the sob sister act as they report on the "collateral" damage of "civilians" that were up close to Hezbollah, near enough to absorb some of the explosives. 2 women with Islamic names and headscarves were "reporting" on today's attack.

After leaflets, what more can Israel do? But they'll still get blamed.

Our media also "reported" on the death of a 9 year old who was right next to a Hezbollah member from the pager explosions the other day. At the funeral the mother wore a Hezbollah scarf which explains why the 9 year old was close to the Hezbollah operative.
