The Energy Demand of AI Is About to Become a Huge Problem

Everlasting Life

By grace, through faith in Jesus
This might actually restrain AI....remember, God's in control, be wise, don't be afraid, trust God.

Artificial intelligence (AI) will require truly unprecedented amounts of energy to continue growing and maturing. Research published on Thursday says that current AI energy usage stands at 20% of global data-center power demand and will rise to 50% by year's end.

....AI and bitcoin mining are draining current energy output at an alarming rate. "A new report by the International Energy Agency finds that 50 percent of United States electricity consumption growth by 2030 will come from AI demand," writes City Journal's John Garnett...

A few weeks ago, I was reading an article and watching the respective video that was posted. It was about Meta's data center that moved into a small town and absolutely drained out the resources. Their water turned darker, and the pressure was low, as the data center guzzled gallons a millisecond. Of course, the residents there that staked ground and were decent members of polite society for decades drew the short straw, and they got the privilege of having to completely cover their windows at night because the lights were so bright from the center, it looked like a SWAT raid about to kick down the door.

It just dawned on me . . . I wonder if the plague of darkness is grid down except for AC and his datacenters, AI, etc.

Big problem is lack of power for farmers and ranchers :yikes:
And everyone, who bought electric vehicles.

AC can control who buys what by controlling power, as well. No power means the cc/banking system doesn't function.

I mentioned this in another thread, a power group is trying to use eminent domain to take over farm land in 3 Maryland counties, one of them mine. The project runs through MD and then ends in VA at a bitcoin mining facility that needs lots of power. The land owners are fighting the battle now in court.

Meanwhile, MD does not have sufficient energy to meet our needs, it was stated plainly on the news this morning. All our electric costs are going up AGAIN tomorrow. :tsk:

Structures for mining bitcoin certainly shouldn't qualify for land seizure by eminent domain. Hope the landowners win and get their court costs back...

At this time the owners are refusing access to surveyors, and the sheriff's office said they will back the owners and not assist the surveyors.

Surveyors shouldn't be allowed to trespass until and if the eminent domain seizure is successful and only after property owners are paid. Hopefully it won't come to that. There must be a good sheriff in that neck of the woods.
