Hanging on to the Throne
Comments/question for those who have read Footsteps of the Messiah. Arnold states on page 173 that the “Day of the Lord” refers to the tribulation in the HEBREW scriptures “always and without exception.” I came to the conclusion that there must be a few exceptions in the New Testament, as I considered Acts 2:20 for example (although there it is the “great and notable” day of the Lord) which refers to His second coming.
On page 174 he lists New Testament designations (phrases) which refer to the tribulation period, which is helpful.
Yet on page 128 when discussing the rise of the antichrist and referring to 2 Thess 2:1-3, he states “the day of the Lord—an expression which always refers to the tribulation. “ Not using the worrd “always” in reference to the Hebrew Scriptures only.
I understand that “the day of the Lord” means the Tribulation in 2 Thess 2 and don’t want this to be a discussion about that chapter. My point is that I’m just a little confused now as to if there are any exceptions in the New Testament, (which I’m sure there are,) what those exceptions would be and how to identify them. (Fairly certain it would add in another significant word which changes the meaning, as in Acts 2:20 which I referenced above.). ?
