Texas sues Tylenol maker over claims it failed to warn pregnant women of autism risk

Texas has become the first US state to sue the maker of Tylenol over claims that taking its painkiller during pregnancy can cause autism.

The state's attorney general Ken Paxton filed the lawsuit against Johnson and Johnson and its corporate spin-off, Kenvue, on Tuesday, accusing them of failing to warn consumers of the risks.

The move comes a month after President Donald Trump and his Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Junior warned pregnant women not to take acetaminophen, the active drug in Tylenol, at a White House press conference, saying the drug raised the risk of their child suffering from autism.
