Tehran plays down reported Israeli attacks, signals no further retaliation

Almost Heaven

Well-known
Explosions echoed over an Iranian city on Friday in what sources described as an Israeli attack, but Tehran played down the incident and indicated it had no plans for retaliation - a response that appeared gauged toward averting region-wide war.

The limited scale of the attack and Iran's muted response both appeared to signal a successful effort by diplomats who have been working round the clock to avert all-out war since an Iranian drone and missile attack on Israel last Saturday.

An Iranian official told Reuters there were no plans to respond against Israel for the incident.

Sad but true, brother. And this is supported by everything Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of the co-founder of Hamas, says. Now a devout Christian, he uses every opportunity to warn people about the hate and the horror of Islam and the terrorists who espouse it.

If they really thought that they could take out Israel, they absolutely would try again tomorrow. They hate the Jews. The message was sent- you got nothing through our defenses, we got exactly everything that we aimed at without being baited into losing international support. The upper eschelons in Iran are seething right now, I have no doubt.

I think Iran's attack was calculated to test Israel's defences and I think they hoped at least a few would get thru. But the bigger part was a trap, to focus world hatred on Israel if they responded against Iran with greater force (as they had every right to do). Iran was telegraphing the world that they weren't doing any more than saving face. However Iran's annex was NOT an embassy nor was it a consulate in spite of the fact that Iran uses those terms in world media. It felt like Iran had gone to plan b when plan a failed on Oct 6 when Hamas disobeyed orders and went in ahead of schedule.

I agree that Iran's leaders are angry. Israel held back -and in return I think they got the US to veto the UN declaration of a Pali state (inside Israel of course).

Iran will wait, Oct 6 failed, this trap failed. They WILL try again and my guess is it will be before the US elections in Nov because Biden is still in power. After that they might have to face worse, far worse under Trump or whoever else gets in.

And as far as that goes, Iran isn't alone in ramping up plans to get things done before the American election. Russia and China and probably N Korea have their sights set on various things they want to knock off their ToDo lists before a scary Trump presidency looms. Biden is the best friend Iran, Russia and China have ever had.

Indeed! :100percent:
