Ted Cruz: The ‘Rebels’ Who Overtook Syria Are From ISIS, Al-Qaeda

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) warned this week that those who are cheering on the downfall of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad should realize that those who conquered might be even worse than he was.

Cruz made the remarks on his “Verdict” podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson when talking about the stunning collapse of the regime after terrorists launched a campaign that lasted just a little over a week.

“His falling is a major loss for Russia. It’s a major loss for Iran. It’s a major loss for Hezbollah, all were allies,” Cruz said. “All are seriously hurt by his falling, but the rebels who have toppled him may well be even worse. It is radical Islamists who have been fighting against him. Many of them are remnants of Al-Qaeda, remnants of the Islamic State, and the people of Syria and Israel and America may soon find that the new leadership is even worse than the old.”

Cruz noted that the world is a dangerous place and there are evil dictators who lead countries, but that does not mean toppling those regimes will lead to a better outcome.

This is quite alarming from what i saw on a Josh Peck video on prophecy watchers last night and also made me think like him whether this incident could also be what "makes the splendour of Jacob fade" whilst destroying Damascus ?

Footage shows Syrian rebels in Damascus vowing: ‘From here to Jerusalem. We’re coming for Jerusalem. Patience, people of Gaza’

Muslims as a general rule seem to be out for Jewish and Israeli blood. It helps them pull their own people together instead of falling apart into warring factions. This might be a way of pulling the various tribes of Syria together under one banner expressing hate to Israel.

Whether the threat to Israel is today or down the road a bit, it's wise to take them at their word.

The splendour of Jacob fading is compared with the total devastation in Syria with Damascus seemingly as ground zero. Damascus is closer to Israel than the northern cities described in Isaiah 17 but according to the text in both Isaiah and Jeremiah 49 Jerusalem is fine.

The way the passage in Isaiah 17 reads it seems to be some blowback that Israel suffers when Damascus tries to steal something and the IDF gets involved. I've always noticed that it reads like the northernmost area of Israel just under Syria and Lebanon take the most heat. But the devastation extends to the northernmost parts of Israel perhaps the dividing line is the valley of the Rephaim which is mentioned in the Isaiah passage, which is currently a major transit route for the train between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Jeremiah's passage reads as a comparison between Israel and Damascus. Jerusalem is in the middle vs 25 forming an X with the description of Damascus (and 2 cities north of Damascus) above and below. It explains that Damascus turned to flee, but then Jerusalem wasn't abandoned, the city of God's joy. It finishes with the fact that all the men of war are cut off in that day (and the young men in the streets of Damascus). Ends with the fire in the wall of Damascus, consuming the palaces.

Due to the way it's contrasted, Jerusalem survives, nobody abandons her, and her young men and men of war are fine. Northern Israel suffers damage but not like Syria.

And it's overnight.

I wonder (just me speculating here) if God allowed the worst and most antisemitic evil leaders to rise up in Syria so that they get the worst of the judgment when God destroys Damascus and much of Syria.

Not saying Assad was a choirboy, just that what's moved back in, is worse and far more of a threat to Israel.

So Northern Israel is the area that's gonna take a pretty big hit ?

I wonder if Netanyahu would still try to resettle that area after the devastation of that prophecy ?

Yup, that is the area. Draw a mental line between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. North of that line. That line is the valley of the Rephaim.

Which coincidentally right now is still under evacuation because of the war with Lebanon and has been since Gaza invaded.

Does God deal in coincidence? Nope, but at the same time it doesn't mean that just because they are evacuated at present, that the attack on Damascus is coming soon for sure.

Just that it's an interesting set of circumstances which would work out in Israel's favour if things blew up between Israel and the new leaders in Syria.

We've all been sitting back pondering if the worse killed and ran off the lesser worse. To me it's about all of them, those currently running things and those that were up to a few days ago, being awful humans. But we do know that many tortured citizens were not worse or the lesser worse, so this regime change had a bright spot in it. Not sure what advances and conquests this is going to give Israel but hopefully chemical armaments won't get into the wrong hands.
