Syria formally invites Turkey to rebuild its military force

Almost Heaven

Well-known
On Wednesday, officials in Turkey's Defense Ministry announced that Syria officially sought assistance from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's administration to collaborate on security issues.

The officials noted, "We are assessing the possibilities of offering training, guidance, and technical aid" to strengthen Syria's defenses against ISIS and other radical factions.

Turkey and Syria have maintained complex relations, often marked by tension due to differing political and security interests. Turkey has historically supported opposition groups against the Assad regime, including backing rebel factions during the Syrian civil war, while also conducting military operations in northern Syria to counter Kurdish forces it views as a threat.

Both of those - the Kurds and the Druze are under attack by Turkey (in the case of the Kurds) and the Druze (in the case of Syria) and both are aligning with Israel and the West.

The Syrian leader is an ISIS type who was backed by Turkey in Turkey's attempt to take over Syria from the Russian and Iranians who were backing the former leader Assad who was also another minority that got slaughtered when ISIS took over- the Alawites.

Turkey wants to re establish the Turkish Caliphate and regain the territory of the Ottoman Empire. That is a big project but Syria is the stepping stone to Israel as far as Erdogan is concerned.

Since ISIS began, Turkey helped them along. Natural allies- both Sunni and both wanting to expand into a modern Caliphate. Erdogan sees himself as the leader and for now he does appear to have some pull with that new Syrian leader.
