Sudan offers naval base to Russia in exchange for weapons

The Kremlin has offered weapons to Sudan in exchange for a naval logistics base on the Red Sea, a Sudanese general has said.

Gen Yasser al-Atta, the deputy commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, said that Russia will provide “vital weapons and munitions” for a harbour that is “not exactly a military base”.

“With Russia, we proposed military cooperation, or they proposed military cooperation to us in exchange for an urgent supply and ammunition point,” he told the Saudi-linked al-Hadath TV channel on Saturday in a translated clip uploaded to X, formerly known as Twitter.

I just don’t get some of the teachers who say that Ez 38 is a long way off, and chop it off right there. I understand that we should not be calling the current events Ez 38. And their admonition against that is good. But then they proceed to dismiss everything that we see happening, and lecture us about newspaper exegesis.
No, this current war in Israel is not Ez 38, and it could be a ways off. But this is (ok…COULD be) a build-up to it, and that should be acknowledged.
