SOS: Migrants held in Texas

Well-known
Detainees at the Bluebonnet immigrant detention center in the small city of Anson, Texas, sent the outside world a message this week: S-O-S.
With a Reuters drone flying nearby, 31 men formed the letters in the dirt yard of the facility on Monday.

I would think the airspace above a prison would be off limits, otherwise couldn't drones just drop objects down for the prisoners to potentially use against the guards to escape?

Even in secured areas, press has historically had access. Depending on the situation, they and all their gear have to be carefully and thoroughly searched. It may be that the drone was searched and cleared before flying there. Most reporters are pretty cooperative with such security because it is a reasonable and necessary condition of access. There have been some exceptions to the professionalism, and it results in denial of access. No access, no story. No story could lead to no job.
