Russia appears to be stepping up its campaign to deprive Ukraine of electricity, launching a series of major missile and drone attacks on critical infrastructure this week, totally destroying a large power plant.

The Trypilska coal and gas power plant was “completely destroyed” in a missile attack overnight into Thursday, Ukrainian state media says. According to those repots, it was one of the “most powerful” plants in the Kyiv region and the whole facility from turbines, transformers, to generators were hit in the strike.

A second power plant in Sumy was also hit in an airstrike.

This war has me scratching my head in wonder. This far into the war you'd think there wouldn't be any critical infrastructure in Ukraine that wasn't already destroyed.

USSR wanted Ukraine usable for themselves and its newly acquired populace.
There's at least one nuclear power plant still operating and selling electricity to other countries (pre-war agreements).
Similar how they dealt with Crimea in 2014.

For decades as war happened in Lebanon, all parties tried to avoid hitting water and markets because when there's no food or water, everyone suffers, and the population will not support any party to the conflict.

If anyone follows Mike Benz, you'll get a glimpse into the US operations that interferes with other nations. According to him, there are limits that restrict attacks on energy sources. :noidea:
