Revelation 20:15
King James Version

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

if you believe Jesus is the only one who can keep you from hell. Remember! amen

I was a Hindu as a child, but became a Christian in 2021, because I fear that I will be thrown into the lake of fire. What if my name is not found in the book of life?
The Holy Spirit warned me beforehand.

Those who are written in the Lamb's book of Life are the ones who are saved.

How do you get saved? By faith in Jesus Christ (John 1:12, 3:16; Acts 16:30-31; Romans 8:1, 10:13; Ephesians 2:8-9; and many more.)

So, if you believe that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, lived a perfect life, died to pay the penalty for your sins, and rose again to give you everlasting life with God in Heaven, then you are saved ... Jesus will never reject you (John 6:37) ... and you are sealed by the Holy Spirit for all eternity (Ephesians 1:13-14).

No works or effort on your part is involved: simply believing in Jesus and what He did for you is all that is required.

God loved the world, sending His Son to rescue by paying our sin debt for us, clearing all accounts of those choosing to take advantage, by placing simple faith in Jesus.

Where satan and the law demanded our rightful payment of death for breaking God's law, God showed mercy and intervened on our behalf, paying that debt with His own blood on the cross.

Now, forgiveness, peace and eternal life are abundently available to all placing faith in Jesus. And the choice is available for all living today to make.

God did the hard work for us to make our saying yes easy for us. Because He loves us and wants us with Him forever.

Hi Siddhi.

I love the King James Version and continue to use it as my primary translation of choice. It is my opinion, however, that the ESV's rendering is more consistent with the rest of Scripture and helps us better understand what the book of life represents—not necessarily a literal physical book in heaven with people's names written in it.

Revelation 13:8
and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.

John 6:44
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

Acts 13:48
And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

Those whose names are found in the book of life are the same people who have been given to the Son by the Father and therefore have been appointed to eternal life, resulting in their belief.

Of course, there are many other verses I could mention besides these, and often times it's not always easy to wrap our minds around it. I do appreciate pastor Chuck Smith's attempt to simplify this particular issue that we don't always agree on—if you find yourself having faith, then you can be assured that you have been appointed to eternal life. If you ever find yourself without having faith, then you can't be assured that you've been appointed to eternal life.
