There is no accounting for Registered Members under the ‘Membership’ button, just those who are currently online.

That is correct. I believe it has to do with the interface we chose for the site.

There is no accounting for Registered Members under the ‘Membership’ button, just those who are currently online.

While you cannot see who the members are, you can see how many members there are, by scrolling down the home page on the right under "Forum statistics".
