"PARIS (AP) — The Nigeria women’s basketball team wasn’t allowed to board the delegation’s boat for the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, said a person familiar with the situation.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on Friday condition of anonymity because the Nigeria delegation has not publicly commented.
Once the team made it to the area where it was supposed to board the boat for the ceremony, the group was denied entry by a Nigerian official who told the players and coaches there were too many people on board. The team then made its way to the athletes village after being turned away. The rest of the Nigerian delegation shared a boat with Niger and Norway.
Messages were left seeking comment from a Nigeria press officer."

You guys had one job!!!!
Participating in the Olympics is a significant life achievement and watching the Olympics is special too. It's a shame that so many have been denied something special on account of these fires.

Yeah i didn't see the ceremony but our online news said viewers were shocked because of the high sexual perversion they were promoting as part of their culture

Paris 2024: The biggest security threats facing the Olympics
Paris has the greatest challenge at its own Games. The city has to host all these events impeccably, house the competitors, keep everyone safe, and deal with an inevitable array of unforeseen problems, while also keeping the capital moving and working.
I just mentioned this good article on the security situation on the other Paris Olympic thread, but it is a mess!

I feel badly for the athletes themselves, but I will not be watching any part of these Olympics. Perhaps if there were viewership drops around the world by a sufficiently large percentage, they'll think twice before they do this again in a future Olympics.
