RABBI ARIEL: “At this moment, we do not have a red heifer suited for the ceremony”

Rabbi Azariah Ariel, the head of the Temple Institute’s Red Heifer Project, recently gave a Hebrew language interview, answering many of the questions concerning the project’s recent developments.

“At this moment, we don’t have in our possession in Israel a red heifer that is verifiably kosher and suited for the ceremony. About two years ago, five excellent red calves were brought to Israel. They had been checked and certified in America as perfectly red but several months after they arrived, they began to grow white hairs. There is an ongoing discussion in the Temple Institute regarding their suitability about whether the proximity of the hairs to each other disqualifies the cows or not.”

A red heifer is an entirely red female cow with no more than one non-red hair on its entire body. In the language of the Bible, red is not exclusively what we know today as red. It also includes brown and other similar shades of red. This excludes black. All of the hairs on its body must be the same color. The animal must also be two years and one month old. There can be no blemish, no holes in the ear, and it may never have carried a burden.

While all the cows were once entirely red and later grew non-white hairs, they are occasionally inspected to determine whether the non-white hairs remain.

“The question now is how to proceed. There are several essential questions that must be addressed regarding the cows themselves and other issues surrounding the issue of the Temple and the Temple service,” Rabbi Ariel said. “We are speaking with a wide range of rabbis and professionals about these issues we haven’t dealt with in over 2,000 years.”

If a red heifer truly is to be involved in a rededication or other ceremony for the 3rd temple, it will happen. Our King of Kings and Lord of Lords reattached a severed ear with no surgical procedure......and actually spoke all of creation into existence where there was no time/space/matter. The timeline to the rapture, the tribulation period, and the MK is not deterred in any way.

o perhaps I misremembered and it's only the instruments that are ready but back before Covid, I distinctly recall interviews where the people of the Temple Institute were saying they had a lot of the Temple pre fabbed, ready to go when they are allowed and it would be up in a matter of weeks. Could they have exaggerated? Possibly. Could I mis remember- oh yeah! But it seems quite clear in my memory.
The implements they made / restored are visible again on the website in “gallery”
I also heard a few years ago that the walls are pre-fabed but I forget where and even if that wasn’t true at the time we know it’s no big deal at all to prefab them now. Could be done in a day if Elon is involved. (I am half-kidding LOL and YIKES)

Although I just looked and they claim it’s not being built offsite:

Is the Temple Institute building the Holy Temple offsite?

No, the Temple Institute is not building the Temple offsite. We are building a stone altar offsite so that when the opportunity arrives we can move it to its proper location on the Mount. The Divine service, including the offerings can begin before the building of the Temple itself, once the altar is built and standing in its proper place.

The Temple Institute will wait for as long as it takes. The time for the building of the Temple certainly isn't up to us. As for the ashes of the red heifer, while these are essential, the possibility to temporarily proceed with the Divine service at the Holy Temple, when the majority of the nation of Israel is ritually impure, as is the case today, exists according to Torah. This is in order to assist the nation to begin, or continue, the service, even during extreme situations.

In short, it is not "technical" issues that are holding up the rebuilding of the Holy Temple, as these can be worked out. What is need is the will of the people of Israel, and the nations, to do what is necessary and build the house of G-d.

I remember being struck at how they get not 1 but 5 red heifers and they use non biblical tradition to disqualify God's provision. 5 is the number of grace. God made a point there!

They did it with Jesus too- deciding He wasn't their Messiah although He fulfilled every prophecy that they knew.

They will look upon Him they pierced, and mourn...

The heifers are a type of Christ- sacrificed outside the camp, their ashes for cleansing the nation as well as the Temple, the priests and the instruments. Red as blood. A gift from God. Rejected by the very ones that need Him.

This is a recent video with a really good description of the situation. 23:07
