Presidential Poll-Trump & Harris

Frankly, I would not trust any poll, either pro or con, as far as I could throw it. All of them -- and I mean ALL of them-- have a purpose behind each result. Don't let them affect you. Just do your research on the issues, find your candidate(s) and support them by doing what you can to share their positions with others, and then get out and vote.

There is no official DFL President-Vice President ticket, yet.
Also, no official platform.

That should happen at DNC, starting, as @LightOfMyLife said, on August 19th

However . . .

It's about to be official. DNC roll call begins to make Kamala Harris nominee

USA TODAY

"WASHINGTON ― It’s about to be official.
Democrats will begin a virtual roll call on Thursday to vote Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s presumptive presidential nominee.
The roll call vote will begin Thursday at 9 a.m. ET. Delegates have until the deadline on Monday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. ET to return their ballots."

DNC virtual roll call kicks off, teeing up Harris' nomination

"A virtual voting process kicks off on Thursday morning to formally designate Vice President Kamala Harris the official presidential nominee of the Democratic Party.
Harris was already deemed the presumptive nominee by the Democratic National Committee on Tuesday after she emerged from a process, laid out by the party's Rules Committee, as the only qualified candidate.
The results of the virtual roll call -- opening at 9 a.m. ET on Thursday -- will be announced after 6 p.m. ET on Monday, which is the deadline for convention delegates to virtually submit votes. Delegates will get a secure ballot to cast a vote "on a rolling basis." Delegates can cast those ballots by email or can ask to vote by phone.
Thus, Harris' official nomination will come two weeks ahead of Democrats' in-person convention starting in Chicago on Aug. 19.
The DNC initially decided in May to hold a virtual roll call because of uncertainty over deadlines to get on the ballot in Ohio. The state legislature eventually rectified the issue, but the DNC has argued that Republican lawmakers in Ohio are acting in bad faith and that the Democratic candidate needs to be nominated earlier than the convention to avoid legal issues. Ohio leaders have denied this allegation.
The virtual process is expected to mimic the nominating and voting that is held at the Democratic National Convention every four years, with a ceremonial roll call still slated to be held in-person in Chicago."

So, barring "unforeseen complications," Vice President Harris will be the official 2024 DFL Presidential Candidate.

What a set up this is.

Smacks of the cronyism in the old smoke-filled back rooms.

Guess the invite-only Zoom meeting has replaced them. Yet another thing we can thank covid precautions for

Now You Know: Where Was the Original ‘Smoke-Filled Room’?

"Nowadays, the “smoke-filled room” is mostly just a metaphor—but there was a real room that started it all. Well, sort of.

The compelling image of the smoke-filled room, a “place of political intrigue and chicanery, where candidates were selected by party bosses in cigar-chewing session,” per William Safire, arose during the 1920 Republican convention. That year, Sen. Warren G. Harding of Ohio was the come-from-behind nominee for president, selected after ten ballots. According to historian David Pietrusza, author of 1920: The Year of the Six Presidents, the room in question is often credited with the phrase “because the people who come out of the room, one of them certainly brags about it, and how they put over Harding.” The storied conference took place in a room in Chicago’s Blackstone Hotel."

Well, Cherelle Parker, the mayor of Philadelphia may have inadvertently already released the fact that Kamala Harris is going to pick Josh Shapiro as her running mate. She sent out the following tweet Friday afternoon: "Proud to be back with so many leaders from across our region supporting @KamalaHarris for President and @JoshShapiroPA for VP! We are One CITY, One REGION, and ONE Commonwealth United!"

Shapiro is the Jewish governor of Pennsylvania and is strongly pro-Israel, so either the Dems are sending a signal to the pro-Hamas wing of the party that they are not going to go along with their rabid pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel agenda, or the Philly mayor is trying to force Kamala into choosing Shapiro ... which, by all reports, shouldn't be too hard as Shapiro is one of Harris's favorites.

Maybe it was an on-purpose trial balloon that Vice President Harris couldn't float, but someone else could do it for her.
There's already push-back from Hamas, etc. supporters, calling him "Genocide Josh."
However, he has a reputation for coalition-building and working with both D and R, which would be critical dealing with the Senate, and some GOP like him
He's very pro-Israel. This could offset some of President Trump's popularity.

She could have picked far, far worse (or still could)

  :amen: :amen: :thankyou: :thankyou:
