Police operated to evacuate residents of three communities as two separate blazes raged near Route 6 and Route 44 on Thursday.
Police began evacuating residents of the community of Pedaya near Route 6 as firefighter teams and planes operated to extinguish a fire that erupted near the route, Israel Police and Fire and Rescue Authority said on Wednesday.
Parts of the route were blocked due to the blaze, and the movement of trains in the area was also halted.
"The public is requested not to enter the area, to follow the instructions of the police, and to choose alternative routes," the Police said, according to Israeli media.
Some 20 firefighter teams aided by planes were operating to contain an additional fire which had erupted near Moshav Tarum north of Beit Shemesh, and was spreading due to strong winds.
Traffic on Route 44 and Route 38 was blocked and Police operated to evacuate the communities of Eshtaol and Mesilat Zion near Beit Shemesh.
