Paris AI summit: France and EU promise to cut red tape on tech

PARIS, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Europe will cut back on regulation to make it easier for artificial intelligence to flourish in the region, French President Emmanuel Macron told an AI summit in Paris on Monday, urging investment in the EU - and more specifically in France.

The European Union's digital chief Henna Virkkunen also promised that the bloc will simplify its rules and implement them in a business-friendly way.
As U.S. President Donald Trump has torn up his predecessor's AI guardrails to boost U.S. competitiveness, pressure has built on the EU to pursue a lighter-touch approach to AI regulation to help keep European companies in the tech race.
"We will simplify," Macron said. "It's very clear we have to resynchronise with the rest of the world."

"We will simplify," Macron said
France is run by a bureaucracy. For that matter all of Europe is won by run by a bureaucracy. And simplifying is not what bureaucrats do. In fact is the very antithesis of what they do. So Macron's statement is the very height of absurdity. All that will happen if France pushes ahead with the ideas of the OP is the desired results will never materialize because red tape will get more tangled and answers will fade further into the maze.

Quotes from US Vice President JD Vance's AI speech in Paris

PARIS, Feb 11 (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President JD Vance outlined on Tuesday the artificial intelligence policies of President Donald Trump's administration, prioritising innovation, de-regulation, protection of free speech and U.S. workers in what he likened to the dawn of a new industrial revolution.
Below are some of the key quotes from Vance's first major international speech since taking office last month:

"I'm not here this morning to talk about AI safety, which was the title of the conference a couple of years ago. I'm here to talk about AI opportunity."

"The Trump administration, believes that AI will have countless revolutionary applications in economic innovation, job creation, national security, health care, free expression and beyond, and to restrict its development now will not only unfairly benefit incumbents in this space, it would mean paralysing one of the most promising technologies we have seen in generations."

AI is on the near horizon, safety is so last year.

If we can see Christmas in the stores, Thanksgiving is even closer according to many prophecy teachers.

That looks suspiciously like an ornament for the Tribulation season to me. So that says the Rapture is even sooner. YAY :bliss:
