New York to Force Oil, Gas Companies to Pay Reparations for ‘Climate Change’ Damage

Imperfect but forgiven

Large fossil fuel companies will now have to hand over punitive reparations to help New York fight the effects of “climate change” under a bill signed Thursday by Gov. Kathy Hochul (D).

AP reports a state fund for infrastructure projects meant to repair or avoid future damage from climate change has been set up to benefit from the payments.

Lawmakers approved the bill earlier this year to force big oil and gas companies to contribute to the cost of repairs after extreme weather events critics attribute directly to fossil fuel companies and their wares.

The US Department of Justice is going to be busy after it cleans its own house.

Gov. Hochul is the soul sister of Gov. Gavin.

Both are running income streams out of their states, guarding illegal immigrants, soft on crime, and virtue signaling hoaxes. Really expensive hoaxes. They’re champions of homelessness/squalor/lawlessness/sexual perversion/human trafficking/drugs, etc.

The only thing I could guess that motivates them is Marxist theory. They divide the upper ruling class from the deplorable middle and lowest class and create chaos.

I vaguely recall s few scenes in a docudrama by Dinesh D’Souza, Hilary’s America. He was exposing the Clinton/Obama mindset. Steeped in communist world views & theory, their training included a few real-life exercises. A small group would gather at a sandwich shop, enjoy big meals, create a distraction and skip out on the bill. It wasn’t simply petty crime, it was teaching these young radicals about theft and how to think criminally. Most of these college students were from elite wealth and never worked a day in real life so had no empathy for the sandwich shop owner—but they lived in a decent society where that’s a wrong thing to do. Hmmm, how to commit theft, disrupt the business owner, pad their pockets, and look virtuous? Their training had to include ways to make their crime the decent thing and their victim deserving of ruin.

They crave ideologies that provide a cover, a smokescreen while they go about destroying normal people’s lives.

I'm thinking there are foreign cities/states that already charge "use" tax for being on highways. Not sure about in the USA. This kind of stuff was being proposed and dreamed of 30 years ago. I recall overseas permits to BBQ/grill outside at your own residence, and tattle tales could turn in folks that went over their allotted few cookouts allowed.....and sometimes did.

I pay a technology tax when I register my car because I don't buy fuel (pay road tax) commensurate with my road usage. It's not much. IIRC, it's less than $10 a year. Given how much damage winter and spring do to roads here, and how much work has to be done all the time, at least I can see where the road tax goes (here). I don't mind paying road taxes, but I do mind paying tolls (we don't have any tolls here that I know of, except a certain ice road in winter at Lake of the Woods)

At least they aren't charging per mile (whew!)

If they pass something like NY did here, maybe hybrids with negative net emissions (air coming out of Prius is cleaner than what went in; not all hybrids are like this) and electrics (zero emission) will get a break

Fat chance, but it's a nice thought

The companies will just pass the cost on to the consumer.
It'll hurt the poor, working, and middle classes most.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad, with the hike in fuel prices, the cost of everything will go up.
Again, the poor, working, and middle classes will get hurt the most.

Can we trade NY for the not-woke part of Canada? *maisey*
