According to Matthew 26:20, the Passover dinner was in the evening.
Note, the elders and Jewish leaders, led by Judas, had torches and weapons, indicating the betrayal and arrest in the Garden of Gethsemene occurred at night.
19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
Matthew 26;19-20, KJV
47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
Matthew 26:47, KJV
1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
2 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.
3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
John 18:1-3, KJV
The Jewish system of the day starting at sundown follows the pattern of Creation Week in Genesis, in which evening comes before Morning.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Genesis 1:5, KJV
(God also declared the other days of Creation Week this way).
