Massachusetts veterans, families, to get increased annuities

Military veterans and their families will get more money from the state beginning this month with increased annuities going into effect.

On Feb. 1, the Disabled Veteran Annuity and the annual annuity for veterans with a 100% service-connected disability, surviving spouses, or Gold Star Parents increased from $2,000 to $2,500, according to the Healey administration.

The annuity increase will be phased in “to ensure a smooth transition.” Eligible recipients will get an initial payment of $1,250 in February. Beginning in August recipients will receive a single annual payment of $2,500 every year, officials said.

“By increasing this annuity, we are reaffirming our commitment to the veterans, Gold Star families, and service members who have given so much for our state and our country,” Gov. Maura Healey said in a prepared statement.

Most eligible recipients will receive a direct deposit of the increased annuity early this week, according to the Healey administration. Others will receive a paper check in the mail that will be send out this week.

Oops, Boston is in Massachusetts, isn't it :). And my daughter-in-law currently lives in Harvard... I shouldn't have accidentally typed in Minnesota... If I go visit them I might just end up in Monroe or maybe Minnesota's twin cities.
Personally I believe All US military veterans who were disabled while serving their country and families should receive this annuity payment regardless of where they reside in the United States.
But, I don't handle the Veterans affairs so all that can be done is pray that every disabled veteran is considered to qualify across the nation.

Many disabled Veterans do receive disability pay that is based on the disability itself and another thing or two.

Is this the state of Minnesota? The only reference to location I saw in the article was a comment by someone from Boston...

Nah, all the State taxpayer money in Minnesota is being used for immigrants, migrants, refugees, perversion, murder, and welfare :apost: :ban:

Oh, and plowing, road repair, and match for critical habitat license plate donations

Oops, Monroe is in Wisconsin. This must be what happens after you throw away your treasured paper maps of each state. Your brain scrambles everything you know and you become like a vegetable.

Disabled veterans who receive disability payments rate from a few hundred dollars a month, up to over 4,000, depending on their level of disability, which can be a low as 10 percent, or as high as 100 percent. Additionally, it’s a tax free monthly payment they receive.
