One surface-to-surface missile from Lebanon targeted central Israel on Wednesday morning, the IDF announced shortly after rocket sirens sounded throughout Tel Aviv and various cities in the area.

"There will be no change to the IDF Defensive Guidelines currently, and educational activities will continue as usual in central Israel," the IDF added.

Developing Story

IDF: Following the surface-to-surface missile launch toward central Israel, the IAF struck the launcher from which the missile was fired in the area of Nafakhiyeh in Lebanon.

Overnight (Wednesday), with the direction of IDF intelligence, the IAF conducted an additional series of strikes on Hezbollah terrorist targets in Lebanese territory.

As part of the strikes, the IAF struck terrorists operating within terrorist infrastructure, weapons storage facilities, launchers, and additional Hezbollah terrorist targets.
Following the strike on multiple Hezbollah weapons storage facilities, secondary explosions were identified, indicating the presence of large quantities of weaponry within the facilities that were struck.

Missile intercepted over central Israel after Hezbollah targets Tel Aviv
For the first time, Hezbollah launched a rocket at Tel Aviv, with sirens sounding across the city in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The IDF announced that one surface-to-surface missile from Lebanon had targeted central Israel, but was intercepted by the David's Slingshot aerial defense system.

In what the IDF called "a quick closing of the circle," the Air Force detected the launcher from which Hezbollah launched the missile, and subsequently attacked it. The launcher was in Nafakhiyeh, Lebanon, which is about 20 km from the border with Israel.

Sources claimed to the Saudi Al-Hadath newspaper that Hezbollah wanted to convey a symbolic message by launching the attack at 06:29 - the time the attack began on October 7.
