Lebanese Christians Rejoice: Freed After Decades in Assad’s Prisons

Christians in Lebanon are celebrating the release of several prisoners who were abducted by the Syrian regime over several decades of occupation and who are now, finally, free after the sudden collapse of the Assad regime on Sunday.

Some are praising Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose leadership of Israel during the ongoing war that was started by Iranian proxies Hamas and Hezbollah last October ultimately resulted in the decimation of Hezbollah and the elimination of its leadership, leaving Assad defenseless.

While there is still widespread concern about the fate of Christians inside Syria, especially since the Syrian rebels who overthrew Assad are radical Islamists with ties to terror, there is broad delight at the demise of the Syrian regime.

I suspect that Christians in Syria may soon face a regime even more evil than the Assad regime, if that's possible.

I'm hearing some news that the new powers in Syria are implementing sharia law. Women can't go out of the house unless they're escorted by a male family member and that sort of thing.
Not a surprise. Assad was holding a lot of the other nasties in check. It's going to be life threatening for Christians and other "infidels" with ISIS in charge.

Yep, I'd suggest they flee while they can, though I don't know where they can flee to. :pray2: :pray2:

The Maronites and others in Lebanon and Kurds in Turkey will help. Probably already helping. They know there's no time, and no one, who's fleeing, is taking time to pack much, if anything, at all. A lot of hard foot travel over rough terrain, so going light is absolutely necessary. The underground church has probably been mobilized for this for some time, watching the military/political situation unfold, and ready to move at a moment's notice.

Teeny tiny window of opportunity while the new regime consolidates power and takes stock of people, property, and other assets.

I feel bad for single marriageable-aged ladies (generally 12 to 40, inclusive, and sometimes older and oftentimes significantly younger. They'll likely be given to islamic fighters as wives. Any with husbands need be careful, lest they suddenly become widows and "available."

Plus the rape and FMG that accompanies imposition of sharia :furious:  :apost: :ban:

It is hard to conceive of what would be worse than Assad, but ISIS style Sharia will be. As @Ghoti Ichthus said, there is a slight window of opportunity for those living there, to get out fast.

ISIS always breaks their promises to the West, and to Christians and Jews. They only promise stuff when they feel at a disadvantage. And there is NO doubt left that the winners in this contest are the hard core ISIS that survived.

It's a VERY good thing Israel has taken Mt Hermon, and blown up the resources that they can. I'm praying they continue to. Russia and Turkey won't be able to restrain these terrorists running things in their warlord districts. Iran will try to get weapons to them and use them to attack Israel, a goal that ISIS and Iran share.

Yes, and in Afghanistan ISIS and the Taliban were enemies. But they are both Sunni Moslem groups who want to spread strict Sharia law wherever they can through violence. The whole territorial battles between them are history at the moment. The Taliban in their efforts to raise money for their cause have been selling the weapons we left for them in Afghanistan. And when it comes to money, it would not surprise me at all if they sold them to those elements of ISIS that still exist, only under a different name, and have apparently taken control of Syria.
