Jim Carrey says, “Chose [God’s] grace instead of pain.

It sounds a lot better than what he was about before...lol. We get to watch him take his journey which is pretty cool. From what I understand he was raised Roman Catholic. Which might account for his views on suffering. Currently, atonement theory has been a hot passion of mine to revisit. As most Western Evangelicals I side with PSA. But I believe there are also aspects about atonement theory that should be further investigated and realized. Im just getting starting down this road again (i tried venturing out this way 9 years ago, but hit a brick wall).

But since have looked deeper into Christus Victor and Ramson theory as they may relate, contrast or augment to Penal Substitution. One historic one too is also known as The Example Theory. Christ going to the cross as a way shower of true humility and love as an example for us. Although this theory would be par excellence for more of the church in general to adopt, to me, it is one of the theories that don't exactly carry the transforming gospel reality as much as some of the others do. And would be held high in Catholic circles to boot. But it is great to see Jim moving far more to consider Christ than his previous view that Jim Carrey did not exist. And thanks @Ronnie for a lovely reminder to pray for him. Being such a staple part of our era. Blessings.

Can't really tell from the video. Hope so.
Didn't watch the video, but I'd heard he's become a Christian, and I'm happy about that. The poor man was involved in some dreadful blasphemous movie and his life is marked by a lot of sad stuff so if he's turned to Christ it's so much better even if he makes mistakes along the way.

I was a fan of his over the years. He has made some raunchy movies at times. So a with a bit much. But I'm trying to think of the film you might be alluding to. Nothing comes to mind right away. Was it the Andy Kaufman one? I never saw that one. Blessings.

I rejected him as watchable when he made a mocking video about Charleston Heston (a more notable man than he previous) called “Out of my Cold Dead Hands”, about Heston’s 2nd Ammend. stance.

Don’t believe it’s a flick, but more like an SNL skit. 🙂

It was something to do with God. I just looked it up. It was Bruce Almighty. Never watched it, but when it came out the trailers were blasphemous and offensive in my rather strict opinion.

(I get offended by the casual blasphemy of taking the Lords Name in vain and a comedy about God just set my teeth on edge)

Yeah i was not into that movie. Never saw it. Thanks. I liked him in Liar Liar. I think that is my favorite movie of his. Truman being the next. Back in the day The Mask and Ace Ventura Pet Detective but something geared for the younger audience, it was certainly a shifting of Hollywood to more vulgar themes.

This is just Jim Trivia, but I also notice a shift in Hollywood violence levels. Just using initials the KA2 movie genre took violence to a new level. I really noticed that. Almost like movies are telling us its getting really real ya'll. It was over that move that Jim really started his search for meaning i think. Well other than his Dumb and Dumber wife days where he seemed to be more gravitating to his guru than his wife. Almost ironic it was in tandem to a movie named kind of by a season in his life. But yeah after the KA2 movie, he realized he was in the devil's world. And it took a lot out of the man.

I'm glad to see him on a better path too. One of the most fascinating movie actor stories. And so contemporary. Rather touching to watch.

Which is why I couldn't watch the George Burns Oh God movies either.
That one i saw before being a believer. But yeah there is only so much i can handle. Even lighter stuff. I once actually saw a Christian movie trying to share the gospel in it with actors cussing....lol. It did not sit right with me. I think the Mark Driscoll 1.0 Mars Hills days made that a thing i guess. I could not watch it. It just did not seem right.

I like the movie, "The Mask", and "Liar, Liar, Liar". He was a decent actor but I understand he suffered big time in a way that a lot of comedians do, with depression and what not.
God was actually using Liar Liar in my life. It spoke to a lot of the events around me and consideration of my own shortcomings as well. That and a non-Jim Carey movie, "Anger Management." The movie. Amazing how God can sometimes use general revelation so specifically and profoundly in our lives. Huge nostalgia for Liar Liar. And really fun movie too.

For my entire adult life it's felt like Hollywood (celebrity in general) was light years from God and it still feels like it today. But, I've always hoped that industry would get saved in large amounts during the trib. The world will be an awful place and it often seems like everyone will be lost but 100's of millions at least will be save by the 144,000 and others opening the scriptures. So, why not Hollywood? In the end, God is no respecter of persons. It will be what it will be.
