Israel says it is serious about reaching ceasefire, cites positive signs

TALLINN - Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on July 2 that his country was serious about reaching a deal with the Palestinian Hamas group to end the war in Gaza and return the hostages held there to Israel.

US President Donald Trump said on July 1 that needed to finalise a 60-day ceasefire with Hamas after what he called a “long and productive” meeting of his representatives with Israeli officials.

At a press conference in the Estonian capital Tallinn, Mr Saar said: “We are serious in our will to reach a hostage deal and a ceasefire. We said yes to (US) special envoy (Steve) Witkoff’s proposals.

My opinion is that Israel should continue to destroy fighters and property in gaza until the enemy is ready to turn over all of the hostages.

I haven't had time or attention span yet but JNS (Caroline Glicks' old outfit) has a new video up - YouTube that I'm planning to watch later if I'm up for it.

I have no idea what they are saying about it, but JNS is usually really good.

Those 2 sentences together suggest some pressure from Trump and Witkoff who is known to use pressure tactics on Israel, and Witkoff is also beholden to Qatari interests, and Saudi interests.

I hope Israel stays strong. Because no matter how well meaning the Trump team is, (and they are light years ahead of the rest of the world which is growing in anti Semitism by leaps and bounds) they've shown that they can put pressure on Israel to do things that ARE NOT in Israel's best interests.

Hoping that is NOT the case this time. Haven't heard anything from Huckabee on it. But I'd trust Witkoff about as far as I could throw him.
