Is the Gaza War mentioned in the Bible? Joel Rosenberg discusses Israel’s war against Hamas and its connection to the 'End Times'

By Joel Rosenberg
**Interesting perspective from Joel Rosenberg......

In a recent episode of Inside the Epicenter, Joel Rosenberg tackled the issue of the current Gaza War against Hamas and its connection to Bible prophecy.

[The episode was originally recorded shortly before the start of the ground campaign in late October.]

Rosenberg addressed several questions: Is the war in Gaza part of end times prophecies? What does the Bible say about Gaza's history and its future? How should Christians pray right now, and where can they give to make a difference? And why haven't Israeli leaders called for a national day of prayer when they absolutely should?

Reading Zephaniah, i was wondering whether what is playing out now is leading toward the verse below :

Judgment on the Philistines
(Jeremiah 47:1–7)

4For Gaza will be abandoned,

and Ashkelon left in ruins.

Ashdod will be driven out at noon,

and Ekron will be uprooted.

5Woe to the dwellers of the seacoast,

O nation of the Cherethites!

The word of the LORD is against you,

O Canaan, land of the Philistines:

“I will destroy you,

and no one will be left.”

6So the seacoast will become a land of pastures,

with wellsb for shepherds and folds for sheep.

7The coast will belong to the remnant of the house of Judah;

there they will find pasture.

They will lie down in the evening

among the houses of Ashkelon,

for the LORD their God will attend to them

and restore their captives.c

Has Jeremiah 47 already passed or is this connected as well with what will happen in Gaza and also Lebanon which seems to be playing out now?

Judgment on the Philistines
(Zephaniah 2:4–7)

1This is the word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet about the Philistines before Pharaoh struck down Gaza. 2This is what the LORD says:

“See how the waters are rising from the north

and becoming an overflowing torrent.

They will overflow the land and its fullness,

the cities and their inhabitants.

The people will cry out,

and all who dwell in the land will wail

3at the sound of the galloping hooves of stallions,

the rumbling of chariots,

and the clatter of their wheels.

The fathers will not turn back for their sons;

their hands will hang limp.

4For the day has come

to destroy all the Philistines,

to cut off from Tyre and Sidon

every remaining ally.

Indeed, the LORD is about to destroy the Philistines,

the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.a

5The people of Gaza will shave their heads in mourning;

Ashkelon will be silenced.

O remnant of their valley,b

how long will you gash yourself?

6‘Alas, O sword of the LORD,

how long until you rest?

Return to your sheath;

cease and be still!’

7How can it rest

when the LORD has commanded it?

He has appointed it against Ashkelon

and the shore of its coastland.”
