IRS Can Enter ‘Anyone’s House at Any Time’: Abuse Detailed in New Weaponization Report

An IRS agent showed up at the door of a Marion County, Ohio, woman and lied about his reason for being there.

Once inside, the Internal Revnue Service agent, purporting to be named Bill Haus, began to harass and intimidate the taxpayer, according to a congressional report released Friday.

The woman called a lawyer, who told the IRS agent to leave the home since the taxpayer had gotten no prior notice of unpaid taxes.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution

FWIW, I don't answer the door for strangers or let them in the house unless I called them, as in the ambulance for Dad, etc.

The problem is that this current Regime has no respect for the Constitution, unless it benefits them by their interpretation of it.
There's a rogue lawless leadership in this nation that's difficult to digest but is the fact of this time we live in.

And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold
Matthew 24:12

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way
2 Thessalonians 2:7

Today's philosophy is "everyone has a right to have their own truth"

I keep a small copy of the Constitution and a small multi-lingual copy of the (UN) Universal Declaration of Human Rights . . . there are some very interesting things in the U.N. document, especially with regard to religion, citizenship, and nationality . . . for the purposes of this discussion:

No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 12

1. Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others.
2. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 17

IRS policy allowing surprise visits on taxpayers limited after Judiciary Republicans' probing, report says

FIRST ON FOX: The House Judiciary Committee's select subcommittee on government weaponization says the IRS rolled back unannounced visits to U.S. taxpayers after pressure from the panel.

"The Committee’s and Select Subcommittee’s oversight revealed, and led to the swift end of, the IRS’s weaponization of unannounced field visits to harass, intimidate, and target taxpayers," the Republican-led report said.

"Taxpayers can now rest assured the IRS will not come knocking without providing prior notice — something that should have been the IRS’s practice all along."

Special agents in the IRS criminal investigations unit aren't affected by the policy change.

Even if the visit had a real purpose I will not allow someone from the govmint inside my house. They'd have to come with a warrant which they would have to properly serve before they gained entrance to my home. I have zero trust for the Federal govmint these days. Of course, if they come with guns blazing, I might not have a say in the matter.

When my former husband and I got audited, the lawyer advised us to always go to the IRS office and not allow anyone into the house because things in view or arms reach were fair game and/or could be used to open a door to allow expanding the scope of the audit or potentially seized as evidence or asset forfeiture. Even if the taxpayer(s) have paid everything owed or do so immediately if an error has been found, or the IRS owes and pays the taxpayer, it can take a very long time to recover seized property that is not needed to satisfy a tax debt. Additionally, if one is in an IRS facility, presumably everything is audio and/or video recorded, and there's an access log that shows your arrival and departure date and time, which are government records and obtainable via Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). There's also presumably at least a supervisor on-site so not in a building alone with the Agent. If the interview occurs at one's residence, there's more chance for unethical conduct on the part of the Agent and even if he or she records the interview, it becomes more a possibility of agent-said-suspect-said. The lawyer also said that as soon as a return was flagged, the taxpayer was considered a suspect, even if the audit and any follow-on actions remained on the civil side and the matter didn't get transferred for criminal prosecution.

FWIW, the Agent was very professional and had circumstances been different, we could have become friends. However, that would have been totally inappropriate. Important to remember, no matter how friendly or nice, the Agent is not a friend. He or she has a job to do, has reason to believe money is owed by the taxpayer(s), and has seemingly endless assets of the IRS to help prove it.
