US and Iranian officials are preparing for the highest-level discussions on the Islamic Republic’s advancing nuclear program since 2022.

Distrust runs deep on both sides and complications abound. President Donald Trump’s administration, for one, is split over what a deal “better” than the 2015 accord that he abandoned during his first stint in office would look like. And it’s not even clear if officials will talk face-to-face tomorrow in Oman (as Trump insists), or sit in different rooms with a mediator running between them (like Iran wants).

If the talks happen, I think it'll be the US telling Iran what actions must be taken to avoid having all of their nuclear assets destroyed. Nothing will be tricky about it. The message will be clear.
