The IDF struck an underground warehouse containing millions of dollars in cash and gold belonging to Hezbollah, chief military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari announced Monday night. In a press briefing, Hagari said the strikes targeted facilities linked to the Al-Qard al-Hassan association, a financial institution affiliated with Hezbollah. “Lebanon has been in an economic crisis for years, and Hezbollah has taken advantage of it to solidify its foothold and influence in the country,” he said. The IDF reported hitting 20 targets, most of them in Beirut's Dahieh district, a Hezbollah stronghold. Among them was a subterranean storage facility holding tens of millions of dollars in cash and gold, intended to finance Hezbollah’s operations, including post-war recovery efforts.
