How Prince Andrew renouncing his title affects his royal future

TCC

Well-known

Prince Andrew just gave up his royal title, the Duke of York, after King Charles and the rest of the royal family finally ran out of patience with the scandal-tarred noble.

But don’t expect the disgraced duke to be out on the street polishing his résumé. For non-blue bloods, he faces mostly humiliation by losing out on his fancy title, not exactly hardship.

The Post breaks down exactly what the news means:

I know for most of us we couldn't care less if Prince Andrew is no longer the Duke of York, but I've been following this story and it's getting a lot of publicity and anger from the British public, with calls for the police to investigate him further on several things. He asked his security detail to dig up dirt on Virginia Guiffre who was that teen he was seen with after the infamous photo emerged. He misused public funds when he was a trade envoy and several other little bits.

2 books just came out - this week Virginia Guiffre's posthumous memoir (she committed suicide recently, she was that 17 year old teen in that photo with Prince Andrew, she was trafficked by Epstein and Andrew was one of her regulars) - in which several now well documented instances that can prove that Andrew lied repeatedly, including to the Queen regarding the time line with Epstein

and a biography, extremely well documented that came out in mid August. Entitled by Lownie. The author took 4 years to write it, researching every claim meticulously. He has been threatened by both Andrew and Fergie, neither of whom come off well in the book, but the author is a biographer who does a very thorough job.

In short, Andrew will be lucky if he remains a Prince. He "voluntarily" gave up the Duke of York title under pressure this week, from his brother the King, but this has wider implications. A lot of annoying royals like Harry, Megan, Andrew and Fergie might be heaved out the air lock at Windsor Castle bereft of all titles including the princes.

If the public manage to get this done in Parliament it is the beginning of the end of the monarchy as it's been in Britain, emerging a leaner, lighter lot of royals, who are all about serving the public.

William is pressuring his father to go further, and Parliament is required to strip Andrew of the title of Prince. If Charles dies before doing that, the gossip is that William won't be long in stripping his uncle and his brother of their titles and quite possibly their place in the line of succession.

The Epstein stuff is a big part in all this, and it keeps getting bigger.
