Just waiting for the Rapture at this point!
How Does One Get Saved?
There are at least four different Christian beliefs regarding salvation. Let us use logic to test which belief makes the most sense.
An example of using logic is a math problem I made up. As a child, Sam tells you that one plus one equals two. Joe tells you that one plus one equals three. So now let’s use logic to test the two different views. You go to the store and ask for one chicken egg and one goose egg. When you get home you ask your parents how many eggs you have and they say two. You count them yourself and also count two. That means that Sam was correct and Joe was wrong.
So here are the four different Christian beliefs regarding salvation all of which believe that the Bible is God’s Word and does not contradict itself.
1) Salvation is not your choice as God is the one who decides who is saved.
This is what Calvinists believe. Is it logical? No, because if that is true it would mean God does not let us choose. So why would God tell us to share the Gospel if those we share it with have no choice?
2) You must believe and accept Jesus as your Savior and try your best to live right from that point on.
This is what Catholics and some other Christian religions believe. Is this logical? No, because the Bible clearly says that salvation is a FREE GIFT!!! and no works are required.
3) You must believe and accept Jesus as your Savior and you must also live right to be saved, but God will cause you to do that.
Not sure if any specific Christian religion believes this but some Christian churches teach this. Is this logical? No, because if God is the one that causes you to live right, then there is no need to teach it. If you teach it, then you are motivating the congregation to live right themselves not God. Which would mean works are required on your part and again, salvation is a FREE GIFT!!!
4) You must believe and accept Jesus as your Savior and that’s it.
Most Christian religions believe this but very few actually teach it for some unknown reason. Is this logical? Yes it is as all scripture if understood correctly agrees with this point. The first example of this fact was the thief on the cross who did nothing at all other than believe in and accept Jesus as his Savior.
