On Tuesday afternoon, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that its headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon, was hit by a rocket, injuring some of its personnel.
In its initial post, UNIFIL did not specify the rocket’s origin. It later responded, stating that the rocket came from the north, “likely by Hizbullah or an affiliated group.”
The Austrian Ministry of Defense announced that eight Austrian soldiers were superficially wounded in the attack.
“Eight soldiers of the Austrian Armed Forces (UNIFIL) contingent (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) were injured today at 12:58 p.m. by a missile hit in Camp Naqoura; none of them hard. These are minor and superficial injuries. Emergency medical care is not necessary for any of the soldiers,” the ministry statement read.
The IDF later confirmed that the rocket that struck the UNIFIL facility had been launched by Hezbollah, releasing images to show the location of the launch relative to the UN force’s position.
