California residents are being urged to wear masks as a new wave of coronavirus is hitting Gavin Newsom’s state.

The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday:

A COVID wave is washing over California, with the state seeing continued increases in the number of newly confirmed cases and hospitalizations as some officials urged the public to take greater precautions.

The extent of the recent increases has prompted some county-level health officials to recommend that residents once again consider wearing masks in indoor public settings, at least until transmission has declined.

“Wearing a high-quality mask such as an N95, KN95, or KF94 that fits well continues to provide strong protection,” [Yolo County health officer Aimee] Sisson said.

Newsom, initially skeptical of the coronavirus vaccines, later mandated them. The vaccines appeared, generally, to have prevented severe symptoms and to have slowed the rate of hospitalization — but did not always prevent infection, as advertised, and cost many objectors their jobs.

Masks will stop some bacteria but not all and will stop a sick person from actually coughing liquid droplets directly on people but the masks do not filter out virus. The virus particles are way too small to be stopped by those masks.

Masks work in the correct settings as Kem points out

Masks will stop some bacteria but not all and will stop a sick person from actually coughing liquid droplets directly on people but the masks do not filter out virus. The virus particles are way too small to be stopped by those masks.

They are especially helpful to protect people who are immuno compromised due to chemo or other stuff from breathing in the droplet spray from a nearby cough or sneeze.

The mask will stop the droplets.

When masks are being used properly, they are changed often.

They lose effectiveness the longer they sit on the face.

They are a good barrier for people who are immune compromised, or medical staff in a closed environment.

They are useless in California where there is a lot of fresh (somewhat smoggy) air, sunlight (which kills viruses) and people aren't indoors for long periods of time cooped up with a lot of other people and the windows are closed.

The research that did come out of Covid showed that opening windows, even a crack, helps. The more air exchange the better. Of course nobody listened much and schools etc here in BC threatened people who wanted to open windows and let the air in. That threatened the authorities and challenged the official narrative.

My mom still wears them from time to time. She has a PhD. She isn't a dum dum. I asked her why. She said she likes it when her nose gets cold.


I never thought about it, but that seems legit to me.

I have read several times that the covid virus is so small that even an N95 would not stop penetration of the mask, my doctor said it would be like a mosquito flying through a chain link fence, when I had to see him during covid I had my mask(standard surgical)hanging from my ear and when he entered the waiting room I was in we both had a good chuckle because he had his (standard surgical)below his chin
