Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapses after column hit by large ship; search and rescue underway​

"The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed early Tuesday after a column was hit by a large container ship, sending vehicles and people into the Patapsco River, authorities said.
Baltimore City Fire Chief James Wallace told reporters Tuesday morning the scene was "an active search and rescue." The Coast Guard was taking part.
"We may be looking for upwards of seven individuals, that's the latest information we have." He said the search was being conducted on and in the water and on the ship's deck.
He said sonar has detected vehicles in the river.
Wallace said at least two people have been rescued from the water -- one wasn't hurt and one was in "very serious" condition."

Was just coming to post this. This bridge is (was) in my county, though the other side of it and not a bridge we used very often. The video is like something out of an action movie. Praying for those still unaccounted for. Thankfully this did not happen during rush hour. 31k + cars cross that bridge every day.

Its been reported 8 workers were on the bridge when it collapsed, 2 were pulled from the water, 6 are still missing.

It looks like the front corner of the barge crashes into it.

It did, you can see the outline of when cargo ship hit a pillar, then bridge broke apart and sections fell like dominos. All mile and a half of it.

Still searching for the construction workers and other cars that may have flown off.
