Faith Without Works (A Little Different Take)

Goodboy

Just waiting for the Rapture at this point!
Faith Without Works (A Little Different Take)

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Would you agree that Belief and Faith requires Trust? Hopefully you would say yes. So the belief required for salvation breaks down like this.

True Belief takes Faith which requires Trust. So let me give you what I believe is a simple example of true belief vs unbelief.

Let’s say there is a weatherman named George that Adam, Ben and Chuck all claim to have faith in. They all want to go on a motorcycle ride together this day. They check with George the weatherman who says there will be thunderstorms today.

Adam says – Based on what George has said I will not go on the motorcycle ride today because I don’t want to get all wet.

Ben says – I don’t want to get wet either, but I will still go on the motorcycle ride in spite of the rain as I want to go so badly.

Chuck says – While I heard what George the weatherman said, I looked at the sky and don’t believe it will rain, so I will go on the motorcycle ride.

Adam is like the good and faithful servant who believes and trusts by faith what God has said and obeys.

Ben is like the Christian who believes and trust in what God says, but the sinful flesh causes him to disobey what God says sometimes.

Chuck is like a so-called Christian who does not truly believe what God has said and believes in his flesh.

While I would never judge anyone as I don’t know their heart, if I had to judge I would say this.

Adam in the example has great faith, walks by faith and will be saved by his faith.

Ben in the example does not have great faith but tries to walk by faith as best he can fighting against the flesh and will be saved by his faith.

Chuck in the example does not have true faith as he disregards the one he claims to have faith in and always proceeds how he wants without considering the one he claims to believe in.

So to me the only one who is not saved in my example is Chuck as he has no true faith. Chuck’s faith is in himself. Anyone who is trusting in themselves is not a true Christian and is not saved.

Be careful though! We are not to judge! Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between a Ben and a Chuck, as they both may end up doing the same thing for different reasons or as James would say by their works!

So in conclusion what you truly believe will show up in your actions, at least to some degree. 👍

Goodboy 😊
