Elon Musk says he's stepping back from DOGE

Almost Heaven

Well-known
"Starting next month, I will be allocating far more of my time to Tesla," Musk said during Tesla's earnings call, adding that "the major work of establishing the Department of Government Efficiency" was done.

He said he would continue to spend a day or two a week on government matters, "as long as it is useful" and the president wants him to do so.

Tesla stock jumped about 5% in after-hours trading after Musk announced the plans to reduce his role with DOGE. The announcement came on the heels of a disappointing quarterly earnings report for the company, which has struggled in the months since Musk began advising President Donald Trump.

Before Tuesday, Tesla stock was down 44% this year, and its first-quarter sales came in way under expectations.

Musk himself said he was leading his companies "with great difficulty" during his time with DOGE.

If I was a stockholder in any of the companies he runs, I'd of been pretty concerned about him spending most of his time working the DOGE thing, though I surely appreciate his service to the country. I suspect his companies were handed to a backup person to run day to day, but that usually isn't going to be the same. If I'm not mistaken, he's not only CEO of several companies, but is also chief engineer which would lead me to think he needs to be available. One reason I'm not an investor in any of his companies is I think Musk is spread way to thin as it is.

Totally agree. I feel like the Democrats got their way by paving the way for Tesla destruction to get Musk off their heels. These “progressive judges have got a smacking coming!
