"The head of a Minnesota-based messianic Jewish ministry says the rumored selection and subsequent appointment of Keith Ellison as head of the DOJ in a Kamala Harris administration would be a catastrophe.
Several news outlets have reported that Ellison – the radical attorney general of Minnesota and the first Muslim elected to Congress – is on the short list to be Kamala Harris's attorney general if she becomes president. He served in the U.S. House from 2007 to 2019, representing Minnesota's 5th congressional district; and was deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee for two years (2017-2018). Both he and Harris' running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, were elected to office in November 2018 and assumed their respective in January 2019.
Ellison, who was raised Catholic, converted to Islam while in college. He has had a long history of anti-Semitism, including his support for controversial Nation of Islam founder Louis Farrakhan. According to Fox News, reports "surfaced" about a week ago that the Harris campaign allegedly told Arab American leaders in Detroit that Ellison was on the Democratic candidate's short list – but that Ellison had denied the report.
Jan Markell is founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries – a ministry based in Minnesota. "Inwardly I'm trembling a little bit," she tells AFN, referring to the rumor.
"I mean, we all know that God is ultimately in control, but this would be a catastrophe. And because I am a resident here in Minnesota, I do have to be a little bit careful [what I say] just for safety's sake," Markell continues. "But Americans would not be happy with Keith Ellison as the country's attorney general."
"And Markell has another concern about Ellison possibly being U.S. attorney general.
"My perspective is that he is going to make an effort – if he ever gets this kind of power and authority – to get sharia law wherever he possibly can," she warns. "I think the goal is to have either Minnesota or Dearborn [Michigan] sort of be the trial run [for sharia law]."
