I think this is both the beginning and the end of Greenland's independence.

Russia and China have both been interested in Greenland - with Russian subs and ships showing up in Greenlands waters regularly for some time now.

The US base in Greenland is extremely important for US defence against missiles heading for Washington DC.

Trump isn't going to chance the now independent Greenlanders making deals with China or allowing the Russians in any further.

I don't think Trump will allow them any further independence.

They will be annexed just as Trump said.

Once they are a territory of the States, they will have zero autonomy and very little power in Washington. On the order of the Caribbean islands that belong to the US, Guam and Puerto Rico.

Denmark will be angry, but the Greenlanders voted their only protection from annexation away in this vote for independence from Denmark.

I'm sorry for them.
