Californians will soon be able to add a driver’s license or state ID to their Apple Wallet and Google Wallet mobile devices, the governor’s office announced Thursday.
Downloading a California ID will not replace the requirement for individuals to carry a physical card, but it does make it more convenient for Californians to validate their age and identify at some businesses and airports.
“Californians will be able to use these new options to present their driver’s license or ID card in Google Wallet or Apple Wallet at select businesses and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airport security checkpoints and in select apps,” the governor’s office stated in a news release.
