A rebel group tied to the Islamic State claimed responsibility Monday for the massacre of dozens of Catholic worshippers in the Congo, according to Reuters.
The rebel group, identified as the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), attacked the church in Komanda on Sunday around 1 a.m., while congregants were celebrating the church’s 25th anniversary during an evening mass, according to The New York Times (NYT).
This continues to happen in Africa, and it appears the world is content to just let it happen. Whether it's ISIS or Boko Haran, Christians are being murdered in Africa. Each time it's days later I see the news in non MSM publication. Maybe it's just me, but when 40 people are murdered at a church a much larger response from the media would be in order. Maybe it's because I don't watch any TV news, or maybe because it's Islam murdering Christians and the press is not wanting to seem Islamophobic, but IMO it seems like the world just accepts the violence because it happened in Africa. I don't know, but if that happened anywhere else it would be front and center for days.
The United Nations’ (UN) peacekeeping mission stated the ADF (Allied Democratic Forces) has been tied to over 80 deaths in the area in the last three weeks, according to the NYT. The church reportedly reached out to authorities in June and asked for security due to increased violence in the area but no help arrived.
