Can Trump be President even if he's convicted and goes to jail?

Things I've heard about this is that Trump can still run if "high crimes and misdemeanors" are not in play. Who knows though b/c this whole mess would be a hornets nest of rabid dogs trying to keep him in jail with the idea and equally rabid push that a jailed candidate cannot be sworn in and run the country as POTUS. Not sure if he is disqualified in any manner but do know these ragers will become fully engulfed in their unrelenting quest to stop him.

Nothing in the constitution would stop him from running in regards to his current cases against him.

If convicted, and sent to jail, there is no precedence so that might be a court battle. If he becomes President while in jail, he could not pardon himself if convicted in NY because Presidential pardons are only for federal crimes.

Its going to get really ugly if he is convicted of felonies.
