Andy Woods on the hurricane and Trump assassination attempt

Short message (by Andy's standards!) but lots here to reflect on and pray about: https://subspla.sh/nkqb59r

An excellent message. Andy spoke on the importance of the providence of God, of which Franklin reminded our leaders to think and pray on together before penning the Constitution.

He also spoke on the importance of prayer, for our leaders, all of them....that they come to faith and also so that in a peaceful society the Gospel can speedily move instead of impeded by unrest. Pray for the upcoming election this November, that it happens.

Here's the important part. Don't take the reactive anger bait of which he believes will result in FEMA possibly being established, which would shut down the Elections this November. Woods believes that this situation may have been set up in order to provoke frenzied anger in order to get emergency powers triggered which in effect removes the 'we the people' part of our freedoms, one of the last recourse we the people have right now after all that's been done to Trump.

He reminded his audience of 1 Corinthians 2:11 that speaks of satan's schemes and that it's important to be careful not to fall into a satanic trap of becoming violent out of anger, of which Wood's thinks the authorities will then respond with enacting FEMA.

If you forgive anyone, I do too. For what I have forgiven—if I have forgiven anything—it is for you in the presence of Christ. I have done this so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his schemes. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11

[ This is E.L. here, so then it's important that the Church has a heart of forgiveness, trusting the Lord to work, and not letting our anger take hold since nothing righteous comes from human anger]

Andy Woods shared this passage, connecting to how this is important in order for the Gospel to move freely:

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:1-4

Andy Woods said to apply what he calls the three P's:

1. Prayer
2. Providence of God [remember this as being in effect in our world...trust Him and look to Him] and pray for His Providence, that power is retained by the people.
3. Participate - get out and vote. This is through legal, political means we are able to do November the 5th. Say no to lawfare

Woods pointed out that what's happening to Trump and our country (irrespective of who Trump is and how people react to him) is an attempt to prevent ordinary people like us from changing the government. Which by the way we're supposed to be doing as Abraham Lincoln spoke of in his Gettysburg address: A government of the people, by the people and for the people that will not perish from the earth.

Another words, stop being distracted by Trump and pay attention to what's happening with our government [and a possible future precedence being set]. We the people, with our vote need to say no to lawfare and no to an abuse of the judicial system by responding legally, quietly, and appropriately, non violently so this republic will be preserved for the next generation.

Wood's quotes Ben Franklin's response to someone after the Constitution had been penned: “A lady asked Dr. Franklin Well Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy?" "A republic" replied the Doctor, "if you can keep it.” Woods then stated that in essence Franklin was saying they put the structure together now it's up to you to maintain what we've given you. Woods calls 'we the people' to pray. Pray for God's providence and get up and maintain the government we've been given and vote this November.

He shared that the global leaders only want one thing: power.

The United States does not matter to them, among so many things. They are all about acquiring and maintaining power, and that's what this nation is up against. Taking authority away from we the people is the name of the game. So, whether you like Trump or not, think of this November election in terms of keeping our Republic, maintaining Lincoln's A government of the people, by the people and for the people that will not perish from the earth and voting. We maintain by voting.

The people of this country need to all participate in voting. It's come down to this for us.

Hopefully I got the bolts and nails of his talk. I welcome anyone else adding what I may have missed.

I would encourage all of us to speak these words to those around us, get the word out that praying and voting, not civil unrest, is the right path.

I thought that was a wonderful bit in there. The whole sermon was good but I thought this might save lives.
