Everything that can be told this morning about the operation to retrieve the bodies of the kidnapped from Khan Yunis:
1. Division 98 with forces from the Egoz unit and the Yahalom unit carried out the rescue operation, based on accurate intelligence received from the Shin Bet. The information led the fighters directly to the location where the bodies were kept in Khan Yunis.
2. The bodies were kept in an underground tunnel, the fighters entered the underground route risking their lives to extract the bodies from it. There were no casualties to our forces in the rescue operation.
3. The intelligence that brought the exact location - was brought, among other things, from investigations of terrorists who were taken captive.
4. The bodies were brought to Israel in an APC, and from there they were transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an identification procedure that lasted several hours. At the end, the findings were defined as certain and unequivocal - these are the Israeli abductees.
5 Similar to the operations to rescue the bodies of the abducted from Jabaliya - it can be seen that the bodies of abductees who were murdered on 7.10 are being retrieved from an area in the Gaza Strip that is close to the area from which they were abducted. Jabalia is in front of Mefalsim sharp curve (where the abductees whose bodies were recovered from Jabalia were murdered), and Khan Younes is in front of the Nir Oz, Nirim and Nir Yitzhak kibbutzim. The IDF says that they continue to work to carry out additional rescue operations.
