"Amazing Grace"

I remember before I was saved, I was Catholic and that at the RCC mass they would occasionally sing, "Amazing Grace", No kidding! Same lyrics we know.
But here's the catch: The RCC definition of grace is not God's unmerited favor that completely saves us. Instead, they teach grace is a "sharing
in God's life" that one receives initially at baptism in water; but can be lost through serious sin, and can be regained
by confession of sins to a priest, and one can get more grace through reception of communion and other sacraments.

How wonderful when I believed that Christ finished the work of my salvation at the cross and I am HIs forever! Now this is truly
God's Amazing Grace!

.

I wonder if Catholics ever sing the Chris Tomlin lyrics of Amazing Grace; "my sins are gone, I've been set free, my God my Savior has ransomed me!" I know that would not fit their papist twisted theology.
I consider "Amazing Grace" kind of the flagship or official anthem of Evangelical/ Protestantism.

I kind of kidded my wife, who also is a saved ex-Catholic but who rarely goes to church with me, that she will have to spend time in "Protestant purgatory" before she gets into Heaven for not going to church with me. She just smiles and kind of laughs, because she knows there is no such place as purgatory, Catholic or Protestant. LOL
