As the foreign support for the Ukrainian war effort diminishes by the day, coupled with the lack of material conditions (such as missiles, drones, artillery, etc) and – most importantly the depletion of the manpower involved in the fight, the situation is getting close to the point of no return.

Barely a week has passed since the conquest of Ugledar, and now the Russian Federation forces are already inside the bastion city of Toretsk, a testimony to the depletion of Kiev’s defenses in the vital Donetsk region.

Russian sources report that Ukrainian defenders are getting pushed out of Toretsk, another critically important city in the Donbas.

Russian forces have reached the center of Toretsk and the area of the administrative quarter, the school and the police buildings of the city.

I think one of the effects of the war in the Middle East on Israel is the attention and resources that are necessarily pivoting away from Ukraine, towards Israel (and sadly towards the aggressors in that war- whatever behaviour you reward, you will get more of!)

This will allow Russia to finally get their way in Ukraine, which is sad for the people there, it's been a long bloodsoaked path. But nobody can babysit Ukraine forever, and if they don't want to be Russian territory, they needed to have joined NATO as fast as Poland and Romania did in the dissolution of the former USSR. They did not. They didn't gain strength or wisdom like the Baltics, Poland, Romania and others did while Russia was temporarily weakened. The CIA made sure they were a centre for criminal enterprises under the Clintons, Bidens and others of that ilk. There comes a time when you either sink or swim.

The war in Ukraine has occupied Russian resources and attention keeping them from Ezek 38 happening too soon. But at that same time the war in Ukraine has prepared Russia (severing her ties to the west, destroying her domestic economy etc) to ensure Russia needs her Muslim neighbours and friends both for money and support. Setting up the Ezek 38 conditions.

I'm not surprised.

I've thought this was a foregone conclusion from the start. If Ukraine had the power to save itself, it would have had the power to keep Crimea out of the hands of Russia back in Obama's time in office. Once Biden came into power (Obama 2.0) then Russia surged ahead with their plan to reconquer lost territory.

Russia sees "her" territories as nesting dolls all protecting the heart of Russia. Expendable resources one and all. It's how Russia treats Belarus for example. Her biggest fears are the expansion of NATO near her borders. The Baltics, Poland, the Slavic states, Romania- all lost to NATO while she struggled in the post USSR period.

Now the bear is back to life, and hunting her prey and not liking NATO encroaching on her former barrier states.

It's the grace of God alone that has kept Russia from using small tactical nukes on Ukraine to settle things.
