After Backlash Christian University Rejects Massive Grant Meant To Turn Churches Gay

Hol

Well-known
Baylor University announced Wednesday it has returned a $643,401 grant from a liberal nonprofit meant to foster “inclusion and belonging in the church” for LGBT individuals after receiving backlash from the university’s supporters.

In a now-deleted June 30 announcement, Baylor said the grant, awarded by the left-leaning Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation, would “help us better understand the disenfranchisement and exclusion of LGBTQIA+ individuals and women within congregations to nurture institutional courage and foster change.” The Christian university is now saying it has entirely rescinded its acceptance of the grant after witnessing “concern and confusion” from the school’s community, partners and supporters.

As a Baylor graduate (75), I'm glad to see it, however, I wish they would have returned it because of their 'conscience' rather than pressure from outsiders. Sadly, Baylor, and other Christian schools have compromised their Christian stance over the years. I notice it particularly in their sports programs as more of their players are seen with questionable tattoos, decidedly unbiblical public behaviors (Brittney Griner), really just becoming another expensive 'public' university with a slight Christian message. Also, I note that the article calls the grant "massive". Well, considering that BU's budget hovers around the billion dollar mark, 600K isn't that massive. More of a token.

Whoever applied for and whoever supported receiving that grant in the first place needs to see their employment/Board position with Baylor U terminated. I hope the granting foundation didn't get that money from USAID...

It's entirely possible that the grant wasn't solicited by the University, and was a targeted "gift" with strings (i.e., a trojan horse) by the LGBTQABCXYZ awarding organization :furious:  :apost: :ban:

Or it was solicited unauthorized/unknown on behalf of the University by LGBTQABCXYZ organization, PAC, or individuals.
